Helet Mōd - Backgrounds (2019/2020)

These background images, sketches, concepts and animations are part of a side project that I have been working on on and off since April 2019. It is supposed to be a short roadmovie with fairy tale elements set in a fictional medievil Germany.

One of my main goals here was to create a distinct style that combines rich detail with somehow exaggerated shapes. Most of them have to work as an orthogonal 2D background that moves in parallax.

One aspect I'd like to integrate and push is a narrative within the picture referencing Fairy Tales most people know as the "Brother's Grimm Stories". These tales are actually a collection of folklore from many different countries all over Europe and beyond.
